MIDDLEFIELD, Ohio — Emergency responders rushed to Geauga County Airport in Middlefield after a small aircraft experienced landing gear failure and was forced to make an emergency landing, temporarily shutting down airport operations while crews secured the scene and removed the aircraft. Authorities reported that no injuries occurred during the incident.
According to county officials, the incident occurred at approximately 12:24 p.m. when the pilot reported problems with the aircraft’s landing gear while approaching the airport. Emergency personnel from multiple agencies were alerted before the aircraft arrived, allowing firefighters, law enforcement officers, and airport personnel to position themselves along the runway in preparation for the landing.
Officials said the aircraft successfully completed what aviation experts commonly refer to as a “gear-up landing” after the landing gear failed to deploy properly.
