MCKINNEY, Texas — Police in McKinney are investigating a fatal shooting that left a 19-year-old man dead after officers responded to reports of gunfire at an apartment complex Friday night. According to the McKinney Police Department, officers were dispatched to the Larkin Apartments on West White Street at approximately 8:30 p.m. on June 19 following reports of shots fired in the complex’s parking area. Upon arrival, officers located a young man suffering from a gunshot wound inside a vehicle.
Authorities identified the victim as Jose Herberto Martin, 19, who had sustained a gunshot wound to the neck. Emergency medical personnel transported Martin to a nearby hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
